I’ve always been the creative type and my obsession with The Beatles (that iconic music group) during my teenage years is what inspired me to become a photographer. But why The Beatles?? – with my crazy obsession I HAD to know everything about them – from who wrote what song, to when and where they were born, to who they married. This leads me to Paul McCartney (my favorite Beatle) and his late wife Linda McCartney. I stumbled upon a documentary on her life and photography, and from that moment on it was all I could think about….I must photograph musicians and marry one too! (lucky me – I did marry my own version of “Paul McCartney”).

With my new obsession being Linda McCartney, I went out and bought all of her photography books (Thank God for eBay!) and instantly fell in love with how she photographed her personal life – her children, family and surroundings. Her life. So after a few years of working as a receptionist, I decided to make the jump and really learn photography. I attended The Hallmark Institute of Photography back in 2006. Honestly, I had a hard time in the first few weeks (here I thought “this will be cake – I’m so creative and I took photography class in high school” – nope not the case!). I just couldn’t grasp or understand apertures, shutter speed, metering, etc. Then one day it just clicked (can’t help myself with puns)!

After finishing the program, I ventured out and worked for two studios in Connecticut. It was at these studios where I bettered my lighting skills, learned more editing techniques, and had fun being creative. The friends that I made along the way continue to inspire me to do what I do. After two eventful years it was time to move on…

I started on my own doing small weddings and free portrait sessions to grow my portfolio. Little by little and referral after referral, time and hard work brought me to where I am today. Within that time I met my husband and we’ve been together now quoting The Simpsons for 8 years. We have two pups (who we treat like our children) and we live in Connecticut while my husband finishes his Medical Residency (two years left – Woop Woop!!) I travel often to NY to visit my family and to work with past and new clients in the Putnam and Westchester area. What’s great about my job is that I’m not limited to what I can photograph or where I can go!
